Onoma, in Greek, means simply name. We believe in keeping design simple and straight-forward, because simple approaches, consistently applied, provide the greatest opportunity for success.
Onoma is a small, very hands-on and cost-effective design firm based in the New York Flatiron District, specialized in translating identity strategies into comprehensive brand identity programs, as well as developing interpretive programs of historical and nature related subject matter into informative multi-sensory experiences.

Onoma has received public and critical acclaim as well as numerous design awards. Together, the partners bring expertise and talent across a broad spectrum of disciplines and subjects to the clients they serve locally, nationally and worldwide.
about Ileana
Ileana Truneanu, partner, recently completed "Why is Ticonderoga Here?", an exhibit about the town's industrial history. For the Port Authority of NY&NJ, she is developing numerous information systems including new AirTrain and airport maps, AirTrain JFK platform kiosk interactive program, and the Cheaper/Faster Way campaign. For the past ten years Ileana has been the key consultant for the National Football League, developing their exhibition and environmental program at their 175,000 sq. ft headquarters. Other projects include: Stuyvesant Cove Park wayside program for the only Native Plant Park in New York City; Kancamagus Scenic Byway, White Mountain NF, NH; Jacob’s Ladder Trail Scenic Byway Exhibit, MA; Andersonville National Historic Site wayside program, GA; Grand Teton National Park, Jenny Lake Visitor Center, CO; Interior design for Eos Airlines, Purchase, NY; and Tredegar Iron Works Interpretive program, Richmond VA.
Ileana received a BFA from the Institute of Design in Caracas, Venezuela, and an MFA from the RISD.
Her work has been published in Print Magazine, Print Casebooks, AIGA Annual, Identity Magazine, and a book entitled “Designing & Planning Environmental Graphics.”
about Roger
Roger van den Bergh, partner, has been designing corporate identity programs since finishing his design training in the Netherlands in the early seventies. Clients and projects include The New York Heart Institute, Leyden Energy, North Fork Bank, BellSouth Corporation, Continental Airlines, Shandong Airlines, Daewoo Motors, Midwest Airlines, The Joint Commission, Transportation Alternatives, Port Authority of NY&NJ, European University Institute and The Boeing Company. He previously held senior positions at Landor Associates, Siegel & Gale, Anspach Grossman Portugal, Chermayeff & Geismar, where he developed programs for USX Corporation, Natl. Australia Bank, Sonat Offshore Drilling, and Banco de Bogota.
Roger’s work has been exhibited by the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, the American Institute of Graphic Arts, and the Society of Typographic Arts, and has also appeared in numerous magazines including‚ Industrial Design, CA Magazine, Logo Lounge, and Aircraft Interiors Intl. He won several Red Dot Awards, both in the identity and product design categories and has also been a member of the ReBrand 100 Jury. His work has been featured numerous times at the www.identityworks.com site, which reviews newly launched brand identities. He is also a contributor at Identity Forum. Roger holds a BA degree in graphic design from the Royal College of Art in Breda, and also studied industrial design at the Academy for Industrial Design in Eindhoven.
